Wieffer suffered a strange injury when a ball hit him directly in the face on Stamford Bridge. The 26-year-old Dutchman then twisted his knee, forcing him to leave the pitch. Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler describes the incident as "one of the strangest cases I've ever seen".
According to Hürzeler, Wieffer lost control of his body for a brief moment after the ball hit him, resulting in the injury. The manager believes that Wieffer will be out for the upcoming international break. Brighton faces Leeds United at home this Saturday, before the international break starts on September 19.
