Erik ten Hag had the possibility to work at Feyenoord after his departure from Manchester United. The Dutch coach was in the running to replace Brian Priske, but ultimately did not join the Rotterdam club. Ten Hag had turned down several opportunities after leaving Manchester United in October 2024, including a potential return to Ajax.
Feyenoord's attempt to sign Ten Hag was one of several possibilities considered by the coach. The chance for Ten Hag to join Feyenoord arose in February 2025, when the club parted ways with Brian Priske. However, Ten Hag did not accept the offer and Feyenoord eventually chose Robin van Persie as their new coach.
Ten Hag went on to join Bayer Leverkusen, where he became the successor of Xabi Alonso. His time at the German club was short-lived, as he was fired after only two competitive matches.
