Marvin Young Expresses Discontent with Defensive Midfielder Role at Sparta Rotterdam

Sparta Rotterdam midfielder Marvin Young has expressed his discontent with his new role as a defensive midfielder, according to a recent interview with Voetbal International. Young, 20, was used in this position by coach Rogier Meijer during the pre-season and the match against Feyenoord.

Young, who prefers to play as a central defender, made a good impression in the match against Feyenoord but felt he didn't play well, citing that he was in unfamiliar situations. He hopes that his new role is not permanent and that he will be used as a central defender again. Young stated that he doesn't want to get used to playing as a defensive midfielder and that it's not his intention to play in this position more often.

Coach Rogier Meijer has responded to Young's comments, stating that players must adapt to their roles and that there has been no disagreement between him and Young. Meijer noted that Young played 75% of the match against Feyenoord in a central defensive position and that he may be used in this role again in the future.
